Why convert HEIC to JPG?

HEIC is the default photo format on modern iPhones. It stores photos at roughly half the size of JPG at similar quality, but support outside Apple devices is uneven — some websites, upload forms, and older apps still expect JPG. Converting gives you a widely compatible file you can share, upload, or print without surprises. Filero runs in your browser, so the original photo stays on your device.

  • Upload an iPhone photo to a form or site that only accepts JPG
  • Open a HEIC photo on an older Windows PC without installing extra codecs
  • Share a photo with someone whose device or app doesn't recognise HEIC
  • Edit an iPhone photo in software that prefers or requires JPG

About HEIC

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format on iPhone and iPad. It compresses photos roughly twice as efficiently as JPG at comparable quality. Support has improved across Windows, Android, and the web in recent years, but some older workflows, upload forms, and editing tools still expect JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Windows sometimes struggle to open HEIC files?

Windows doesn't ship with HEIC support enabled out of the box on every install — it often prompts for a codec from the Microsoft Store. Converting to JPG avoids the codec step, so the file opens in Photos, Paint, browsers, and any other Windows app without extra setup.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Filero runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your HEIC files are never sent to a server, which makes it safe for personal photos, ID scans, or anything you'd rather not upload.

Does converting to JPG reduce quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so a small amount of detail is dropped to make the file smaller. At the "Best" quality preset the difference is usually invisible to the eye, while "Smaller" trades a bit of sharpness for a much lighter file.

Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?

Single-file conversion is free and unlimited. Batch conversion of many HEIC files in one go is on the Filero Pro plan.

Is this HEIC to JPG converter really free?

Yes. There are no signups, email walls, or watermarks on the converted image. Free users can convert files up to 25 MB; Pro removes the size limit and adds batch processing.

Does it work on iPhone, Android, and desktop?

Yes. Filero runs in any modern browser — Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android, and every major desktop browser. There's nothing to install.
